Amid COVID, 7 Things to Remember About Campus Activities This Semester

January 15, 2021

While the start of a new year provides a much-needed sense of optimism, it is important to keep in mind that campus COVID-19 safety protocols remain largely the same as in the fall semester. The vaccine rollout has just begun, so it is critical that we continue to do our part to protect the safety of the broader community.

To help keep our classmates and colleagues safe, below are a few reminders for anyone preparing to come to campus this spring.

1. Masks are still required.

We’re all still wearing face coverings. And it’s winter, so it will help you stay warm, too.

2. Physical distancing remains the same.

Leave room for caution by keeping 6 feet of distance between yourself and others at all times.

3. Official meetings must be held virtually.

Pajama-casual remains the dress code from the waist down, because any essential in-person activities must be authorized in advance if they are not part of your department’s approved COVID operations plan.

4. There are no CU Denver-sponsored in-person events.

Regrettably, even hikes, patio gatherings, and other non-degree-related activities are off-limits.

5. There ARE CU Denver-sponsored virtual events!

Check out Lynx Central for upcoming events you can safely participate in.

6. If it’s your first time on campus, you must take this training.

Everyone must complete this one-time SkillSoft training “COVID-19 Return to Campus – CU Denver” before coming to campus (if you took the training in the fall, though, no need to repeat).

7. Only interact with those in your household.

We hope someday soon we will all be together again, but for now, limit your close contacts to those you live with. It’s a key way to stop the spread of the virus.
