There’s a natural rhythm to the school year as everyone at CU Denver works to make sure our students have the resources they need to achieve their educational dream. From Convocation to Commencement, there’s a legion of people working toward that common goal. And, on March 13, the university took time to celebrate the people who have dedicated five, 10, 15, 20, and more years to that cause in the Years of Service event.
In a room festooned with gold and black balloons, dozens of CU Denver’s community gathered to recognize the work of individuals who’ve reached an employment milestone. Classified staff, university staff, and research associates who have been with the university for five years (and in a five-year increments after that point) were celebrated with speeches by Executive Vice Chancellor of Administration and Strategy Jennifer Sobanet and Staff Council Chair Ingrid Summers, who is a program manager in the School of Education & Human Development’s Office of Continuing and Professional Education.
This year’s event was especially meaningful because the university is celebrating its 50th anniversary and because it recognized people who reached these career milestones in 2020, 2021, and 2022 (the program was paused during the pandemic).
