Apply Now to Join the Inaugural Class of the Building Denver Leadership Seminar
The BUILDING DENVER Leadership Seminar will launch in the Spring 2023 semester.
Applications are now open for the University of Colorado Denver College of Architecture and Planning’s first-ever Building Denver Leadership Seminar.
The BUILDING DENVER Leadership Seminar is a 15-week, non-credit course designed specifically for Denver’s community and business leaders who want to learn about the built environment and the city-building process directly from the region’s top experts in architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, urban design, and related fields. The Building Denver exhibition at History Colorado inspired this seminar and initiated a discussion about the roles of architecture, planning, and urban design in making Denver a more equitable, healthy, and inclusive city.
Empowering Civic and Business Leaders In Shaping Denver’s Future
The goal of the Building Denver Leadership Seminar is to empower civic and business leaders with foundational knowledge in core city planning and design topics—using Denver as a case study—so that they can engage in shaping Denver’s future from an informed perspective rooted in academic research and professional experience.
The College of Architecture and Planning’s Urban Design Program Director Ken Schroeppel will serve as the seminar host. Schroeppel has organized an influential group of subject matter experts to lead and facilitate sessions each week including Executive Director of Denver Community Planning and Development Laura Aldrete; Chief Urban Designer at Denver Community Planning and Development, Eugenia Di Girolamo; Executive Director of the Denver Streets Partnership, Jill Locantore; Executive Director of the Urban Land Institute Colorado, Rodney Milton; Founder and Principal of Tryba Architects, David Tryba; Executive Director of Denver Arts and Venues, Ginger White Brunetti; and CEO of the National Western Center Authority, Brad Buchanan; among many others.
