Below is a message from Dr. Venkat Reddy, Chair of the CU Denver Chancellor Search Committee and Chancellor of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, regarding the 2020 search for CU Denver’s new chancellor.

Dear CU Denver Campus Community,

As chair of the CU Denver Chancellor Search Committee, I want to update you on activities related to the search. We have a very strong and engaged search committee representing many constituencies of the campus, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, and others.

We first met in December with the search firm Parker Executive Search to develop a plan and set ground rules for the process. We charged the search firm with beginning the formal recruitment process, which is well underway, as the firm reported to our search committee earlier last week. The firm welcomes nominations and recommendations at https://www.cu.edu/chancellor-search/nominations.

In mid-February, we will meet to review and discuss applicants and ultimately select our top 10 – 12 candidates. In late February, the committee will interview each of those candidates. At the end of the interviews, CU President Mark Kennedy will join us, and per his request we will present to him our top five candidates and review with him the pros and cons of each individual.

President Kennedy, along with other CU leaders, will then interview the five candidates. At the end of that process, President Kennedy will move forward two to three candidates as “public finalists,” who will come to CU Denver in mid to late March to meet with constituency groups and others. Everyone on campus will have an opportunity to provide feedback on each candidate to President Kennedy via a survey. After the intensive interview process, and after receiving feedback from campus constituents and others, President Kennedy will select the next chancellor for CU Denver’s campus.

Please take the time to regularly review the information on the website, including the position description and soon-to-be schedule of public meetings this March. We want to engage the campus community as much as possible in this process. Details about the search can be found at https://www.cu.edu/chancellor-search.

Thank you,

Venkat Reddy, Chair of the CU Denver Chancellor Search Committee and Chancellor of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs
