CU Denver Celebrates Student Success at Graduate Education Awards

As the spring semester ends, Lynx community members gathered on May 6 to celebrate graduate education students’ hard work, achievements, leadership, and service.

“All of the graduate students nominated for our awards were selected by their program faculty due to their dedication and commitment to excellence in their respective fields,” said Assistant Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education Michael Kocet. “All of you strive to conceptualize what is possible in this world. You chose your academic discipline in order to make a difference. And this award today represents your important contribution to your program, to our university, and to the greater world community.”

At the event, which was hosted by the Office of Graduate Education, six awards were granted to individuals who exhibited excellence in the following categories:  

Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award: Stephanie Puello, School of Public Affairs 

Master’s Thesis Award: Abigail Chiu, Chemistry, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 

Master’s Capstone Award: Adarsh Thoke, Computer Science, College of Engineering, Design and Computing 

Creative Work Award: Kayla Genord, Anthropology, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 

Graduate Student Teaching Award: Gabrielle Jones, Anthropology, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 

Graduate Student Leadership/Service Award: Brianna Matson, History, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
