Last week, searches opened for two CU Denver deans and three Office of the Provost associate vice chancellor roles.
Dean Searches
- The School of Public Affairs is recruiting applicants for its next dean. Distinguished Professor Christopher Weible will continue to serve as interim dean until a new dean begins. College of Architecture and Planning Dean David Rifkind is chairing this national search. The search committee roster and other information can be found on this search page.
- The Business School is recruiting applicants for its next dean. Dean Scott Dawson will continue in his role until a new dean begins, after which he will retire after six years leading the school. College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean Pamela Jansma is chairing this national search. The search committee roster and other process information can be found on this search page.
For both dean searches, members of our campus community will be able to hear from finalists and provide feedback in November. Provost Karen Marrongelle hopes to hire individuals to start in these roles in spring or summer of 2027.
Office of the Provost Searches
Office of the Provost searches—open to CU Denver candidates only—are for associate vice chancellor roles in:
- Academic Affairs: Apply here by Sept. 17; view the search committee here.
- Faculty Affairs and Professional Development: Apply here by Sept. 17; view the search committee here.
- Graduate Studies: Apply here by Sept. 21; view the search committee here.
For each of the roles (which have been recently reconfigured, as announced in April) members of our campus community will be able to attend October finalist forums and provide candidate feedback. Provost Marrongelle expects to hire individuals from among current CU Denver faculty and staff to begin in these roles in January 2027. The roles are currently held on an interim basis by Richard Allen (Academic Affairs), Faye Caronan (Faculty Affairs and Professional Development), and Michael Wunder (Graduate Studies).
“We are moving quickly to identify these new academic leaders because the ideas, experience, and perspectives they bring will help us advance our mission, strengthen our impact, and accelerate our progress toward CU Denver’s strategic goals,” said Provost Karen Marrongelle. “I am excited by the strong leadership talent both within the CU Denver community and beyond, and I look forward to partnering with our faculty, staff, and students to ensure these leaders thrive.”
