Two CU Denver staff members were among 10 staff recognized by the University of Colorado Staff Council (UCSC) at their 2023 Staff Excellence Awards on Friday, Oct. 6.
UCSC Staff Excellence Award honoree Tawnya Boulier ’10 is CU Denver’s assistant director for strategic people operations. Since joining CU Denver in 2016, she has served in several roles involving human resources, budget, and student services. “From the moment I met Tawnya, it was clear she cares deeply about our students and employees and strives to make the day better, improve upon processes, makes interactions meaningful so that people feel heard, seen, and that they matter,” AVC of Human Resources teri engelke wrote in Boulier’s nomination letter.

UCSC Staff Excellence Award honoree Kenny Sisco is the IT director for the College of Engineering, Design and Computing, and the interim IT director for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. A 10-year CU Denver staff member, Sisco is now pursuing a master’s in information systems at CU Denver. “The effort that Kenny puts in far exceeds our expectations and has allowed CLAS to move forward into modernizing its operations and thereby transform our IT space,” CLAS Dean Pamela Jansma wrote in support of Sisco’s nomination. “He tackles every issue with professionalism, grace, and calm.”
Boulier and Sisco each received a $250 award with the honor. The UCSC annually hosts Staff Excellence Awards in the fall on behalf of the CU System, while the CU Denver Staff Council honors staff at the campus level through its Employee of the Month awards. Nominate a colleague today.
