Each May, the University of Colorado Denver kicks off its “decision season” to coincide with National Decision Day, a celebration of students taking the next step in their education by selecting where they will attend college. This year, CU Denver is proud to welcome a new group of incoming Lynx, equally as diverse, talented, and full of energy and new ideas as the classes that have come before them.
“Decision season is one of my favorite times of year because we get to open our arms to the next generation of student leaders, changemakers, artists, social advocates, and so much more,” said CU Denver Chancellor Michelle Marks. “I am overwhelmed at the talent and potential our new Lynx are bringing to CU Denver, and I can’t wait to see them on campus in the fall.”
Welcome to our vibrant, dynamic campus
Taking the next steps and committing to a college or university is a big decision for every student and their family. This next chapter of life is full of excitement, newfound independence, and opportunities—but with it can come change and challenges. At CU Denver, we are committed to supporting and elevating our students through and beyond their education. We are here every step of the way to ensure all students achieve success, defined on their own terms.
“Our recruitment and admissions operation staff have done outstanding work this recruitment season,” said Monique L. Snowden, PhD, Senior Vice Chancellor for Strategic Enrollment and Student Success. “I am pleased to share that prior to National Decision Day, approximately 1700 admitted freshman indicated their intent to enroll this coming fall semester at CU Denver. While that number will increase over the coming months, we must be diligent in our efforts to welcome and assure students and their families that CU Denver is the right choice for them.”
The benefit of making a decision now
Admitted students who commit sooner than later have early bird access to on-campus housing priority deadlines, financial aid opportunities, New Student Orientation registration, early class picks, and more. Recently accepted students can take the next steps in declaring their intent to enroll here.
With small class sizes taught by world-class faculty, unique undergraduate degree programs, and hands-on learning experiences thanks to our downtown Denver location, deciding now will grant incoming students early access to all that CU Denver has to offer before they join us on campus this fall.
“I was attracted to CU Denver because of its amazing Public Health program and opportunities to easily continue post-graduation,” shared incoming Public Health student, Emily Schmidt. “I have loved health care since my freshman year of high school and am glad that CU Denver offers so many paths into my field of interest.”
Celebrating across our community
Decision season kicks off exciting events to honor students for their hard work. Students from across Colorado celebrated at the Colorado State Capitol Building on Friday, April 29 for Decision Day. The event honored the efforts and achievements of students to reach this monumental accomplishment with food, music, networking, and of course, college spirit.
Students have also been participating in decision season through CU Denver signing events hosted at their high schools in Denver and throughout Colorado. High school signing events allow students to share this moment with their families and peers in the places that prepared them for this next step.
“Ever since I was little I have always been drawn towards illustration and animation,” said incoming 3D Graphics and Animation student, Haley Barrington. “Knowing I wanted to pursue this as a career, I approached my senior year with goals set in place. After college searching and checking out CU Denver’s College of Arts and Media, the 3D graphics and animation program drew me in instantly. I am thrilled to be living in the city of Denver and on CU Denver’s beautiful campus.”
Admitted students can join the conversation and celebration on social media by using #CUDenSaidYes to share their admission to CU Denver with family and friends.
