CU Denver is focused on making sure all students are workforce-ready by the time they graduate. From internships to unique partnerships with industry that provide real-life experience, students are exposed to their potential careers early. The university is continually looking for ways to broaden those opportunities for students, which includes being active members of organizations like the Alliance of Hispanic Serving Research Universities (HSRU).
CU Denver is one of 23 research-intensive institutions in the alliance that are dedicated to boosting the success of all students pursuing advanced degrees and contributing to the scientific research workforce, while leveraging HSRU’s collective research capacity to address critical societal challenges. CU Denver’s HSRU committee members are working to identify opportunities for students to benefit from HSRU’s initiatives, including potential graduate education at member institutions and work experience with federal agencies that need STEM-ready employees with career competencies in the arts and humanities.
Now more than ever, it is important that students know about all the programs and experiences they can apply for. That includes a new ASCEND opportunity that provides fellowship support, faculty mentorship, professional development, and opportunities to doctoral students. The HSRU committee asks that faculty be on the lookout for information about HSRU programs and calls for participation and share information with their students often. There are also periodic grant opportunities for faculty.
Faculty are encouraged to reach out to committee members directly with any questions or ideas.
