Five Low-Cost Date Ideas For Your Valentine

February 3, 2020

Calling all lovebirds! Valentine’s Day is around the corner on Friday, Feb. 14. We realize that college budgets don’t always allow room for expensive dates or fancy outings. If you like participating in the holiday and want to plan something for your special someone, we have you covered with five low-cost date ideas in and around Denver.

Visit a Museum

Just a short walk from campus, the Denver Art Museum offers $8 tickets for CU Denver students. Plan ahead by picking an exhibition to start with.

Go Dancin’

Couples swing dancing.

Mercury Café, an ecletic café in downtown Denver, 2199 California St., offers swing dancing lessons for beginners every Thursday for $10. Celebrate a day early and get your swing on.

Catch a Flick

Let’s be honest, seeing a movie in theaters these days isn’t cheap. But the Denver metro area is home to a hidden gem known as Elvis Cinemas. Tickets cost $3 before 6 p.m. and $4 after. The three locations screen relatively new movies.

Enjoy the Fresh Air

City Park

If you’re looking for a no-cost option, Denver is packed with parks and outdoor spaces to explore. Within walking distance of campus is Confluence Park, located near the Platte River and lively LoDo storefronts. Head southeast to Washington Park for a 2.25-mile loop around playgrounds, courts, and two picturesque lakes.

Send Something Special

If you can’t make it out, show your love with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Through the UniverCity Key discount program, students receive 15% off 1800flowers.com. Options galore!
