Giving Back: Homecoming 2026 Kicks Off with Lynx Day of Service

September 18, 2026

CU Denver has kicked off its second annual Homecoming week, and there’s no shortage of events and activities to celebrate Lynx pride, make new memories, and have some well-deserved fun.

Homecoming is also about giving back to our campus community and the city we call home. As part of CU Denver’s Homecoming tradition, the week kicked off with the Lynx Day of Service on Sept. 18. Participating students and employees picked from more than 10 interactive, on-campus service stations with activities like putting together snack packs for the Denver Rescue Mission, writing cards for the Creative Kindness Foundation, and more. Campus community members also signed up for shifts to clean up trash in the neighboring Cherry Creek or volunteer at Denver’s True Companions Animal Shelter & Clinic.

For Director of Student Life & Campus Community Jarrick Brown, the impact of the Lynx Day of Service is far-reaching. “Lynx Day of Service is about more than volunteering for a day—it’s about bringing our campus community together around a shared commitment to serving others,” he said. “It gives our students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to build connections, strengthen our sense of community, and see the impact we can make both on campus and beyond.”

If you missed out on the Lynx Day of Service, there are many more opportunities to celebrate Homecoming, including the The Beach celebration on Sept. 23 on the North Classroom front lawn and the Lynx Live Music Festival on Sept. 25. View the full Homecoming events lineup here.
