The Food Bank of the Rockies has grown accustomed to large and enthusiastic teams from the CU Denver | Anschutz Human Resource Office pitching in vital volunteer hours to the cause of providing food to those in need.

Last spring, for the fifth consecutive year, the HR department volunteered for half a day at the Food Bank. Twenty-two staff members sorted chicken, beef, pork and fish and several precooked items into boxes weighting 26 pounds. All told, the HR staffers sorted 9,677 pounds of food, which is equal to 7,741 meals.

The department annually feels honored to donate its time in the CU in the Community campaign to the Food Bank of the Rockies, which has a warehouse at 10700 E. 45th Ave. in Denver.

Carolyn Brownawell, the new Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Human Resources Officer, joined the HR staff in donating time at the food bank. Brownawell, who previously served as Executive Director of Human Resources at Boston University, was appointed to the position in February 2017.
