At its June 4 meeting in Greeley, the Board of Regents approved the 2026-27 CU System budget, issued a resolution condemning all forms of discrimination, and heard highlights from spring commencement.
2026–27 CU System Budget Approved; Enrollment Forecast Presented
The Board of Regents approved a $6.84 billion system budget for fiscal year 2026–27, including $407 million for CU Denver.
CU Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Chad Marturano also presented the latest 2026–27 enrollment forecast, which projects a 0.6% increase in total CU Denver enrollment. First-year and undergraduate transfer enrollment are projected to increase by 1% and 2.3%, respectively.
Board of Regents Pass Resolution Condemning Antisemitic Social Media Post
The Board of Regents issued a resolution condemning a June 1 social media post by Students for Justice in Palestine, an unrecognized student organization, that glorified the June 2025 Pearl Street attack in Boulder and its perpetrator. The resolution reaffirmed that antisemitism and all forms of discrimination have no place at the University of Colorado.
University of Colorado President Todd Saliman thanked the Board of Regents for its continued leadership on the issue, noting that there is never a reason to justify or support antisemitic acts of violence.
CU Denver Spring Commencement Highlights
Chancellor Kenneth T. Christensen, PhD, shared highlights from CU Denver’s spring commencement ceremonies, celebrating the university’s nearly 2,300 graduates. He noted that approximately 40% of bachelor’s degrees were awarded to first-generation students and that more than 100 military veterans, along with 20 active-duty service members, earned degrees this spring.
In closing, he shared two graduate profiles, whose experiences exemplify lifelong learning in practice: Jordan Etchells, a 20-year Army veteran who earned a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the School of Public Affairs, and Linda Theuss-Lee, who earned an EdD from the School of Education & Human Development after 22 years of service at CU Denver’s Business School.
