If you know, you know: CU Denver’s Emmanuel Art Gallery is a world-class exhibition space in the heart of the Auraria Campus. The building, which turns 150 years old this year, remains a gathering space for conversation and community in Denver.
That was especially true on Jan. 22 for the opening of “Illuminations and Ruminations: Photographs and Other Works by Albert Chong.” The exhibition features a powerful collection of pieces from CU Boulder Professor Albert Chong that focuses on our relationship with memories.
At the opening, students and visitors gathered to experience the exhibit. Chong said that he hopes those who visit the gallery explore different sides of their personalities. “I deal with that constantly with my students,” he said during the reception. “How to see art as something other than mindless repetition of what they’ve seen before, and how to find a unique vision that can actually tell their own life stories and their own perspective on the world.”
The exhibition is supported by CU Denver’s College of Arts & Media and will be at the Emmanuel Art Gallery from Jan. 22 to March 18. So, the next time you need a reason to recharge, reconnect, and reengage, make sure to stop by the gallery for a creative break.
