The CU Denver College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) is pleased to announce an expansion of studies in interior design. Undergraduate students at CU Denver are now eligible to earn a minor in interior design, and graduate students and those with undergraduate degrees can earn a certificate in interior design.
By adding interior design to CAP’s offerings, students can learn the fundamentals of interior design through a holistic, integrated, and experiential lens.
“Interior design combines the pragmatics of space planning and programming with the poetics of human experience and placemaking,” said Dean Nan Ellin. “The rigors of interior design lie at the intersection of environmental stewardship, social justice, cultural diversity, and human-centered design.”
The college would like to express our gratitude to 2021-22 Visiting Associate Professor Susan Melsop for leading and coordinating the process of bringing interior design to CU Denver. Thanks to Melsop’s engagement with Denver’s professional interior design community and her commitment to our students, we are excited to offer more courses in interior design this academic year.
