President Saliman Commends CU Denver Guaranteed Admission Agreements

CU President Todd Saliman offered praise for CU Denver and its three guaranteed admission agreements with Denver Public Schools, Aurora Public Schools, and Jeffco Public Schools.

Later in his update, Saliman highlighted the work across CU in supporting food insecurity for students, staff, and faculty. He closed by reiterating support for academic freedom. Specifically, he noted that CU provides a letter to first-year students to affirm regent policy on freedom of expression.

CU Denver Gives Updates on Student-Focused Initiatives

During his address, Chancellor Kenneth T. Christensen, PhD, reiterated CU Denver’s commitment to academic freedom. He also echoed comments made by chancellors of the other CU campuses on food insecurity, noting the inter-campus food fight drive between CU Denver and UCCS.

Christensen also detailed CU Denver’s three guaranteed admission agreements, now known as CU Denver Direct, which were described as not only increasing access to CU Denver, but also as making a college degree more attainable. “These agreements are meant to reaffirm our mission to open our doors as wide as possible to students from all backgrounds and experiences,” Christensen said. “I look forward to seeing new students as a direct result of these opportunities.”

In closing, Christensen provided an update on CU Denver’s Student Success Transformation Initiative and Academic Transformation Working Groups. Christensen described both as proactive investments which will lead to improved student academic and career outcomes.

CU System’s Economic Impact

Board of Regents Chair Callie Rennison, PhD, shared the recent news that the CU System generated $12.2 billion in economic impact across Colorado in the 2024-25 fiscal year. The report, issued annually by the Business Research Division of CU Boulder’s Leeds School of Business, found that CU Denver alone generated $665 million in economic impact through research, teaching, operations, construction, and student spending during the same period.

Regent Emeritus Norwood Robb was honored for his service to CU. He was first elected to the Board of Regents in 1984 and represented the 6th Congressional District. He served three terms, totaling 18 years, which included service as board chair twice and vice chair twice.
