Dear colleagues, As the semester winds up, there is still a lot of action on the research and creative work front. At the forefront is our Grand Challenge process. In March we received 10 proposals from interdisciplinary teams across CU Denver. We sent them out to external reviewers who provided expert feedback on elements including the intellectual merit, opportunity to make a broad impact, and the capabilities and plans of the teams to build programs that will enable CU Denver to reach its ambitious goal to be globally recognized for our research that positively impacts five societal grand challenges. We have received the reviews and they are extremely insightful and helpful. We are synthesizing them now and plan to announce the first investments we will make within the next month. We are also planning to make investments in additional teams at a reduced level to help them strengthen their plans over the next year. This is part of an effort to integrate the CU Denver Creative Research Collaborative (CRC) into the annual Grand Challenge process.
