On May 5 in the Terrace Room at the Lawrence Street Center, CU Denver hosted the annual Celebration of Faculty Excellence to recognize faculty for their tremendous efforts, and, for the first time, included faculty with 25 years of service in the event.

Hosted by Chancellor Michelle Marks, Provost Constancio Nakuma, and Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty Affairs Joann Brennan, the ceremony honored 10 faculty with 25 years of service and 40 faculty members and one school with excellence awards. Faculty were nominated for awards through each school and college’s process and a selection committee of previous award winners selected one campus-level winner in most categories. This year, two award categories were added for IRC (Instructional, Research, and Clinical) faculty: research/creative work and leadership/service.

“We have top-notch faculty at CU Denver who make a great impact, not only for our students, but for our communities, the state, the nation, and even the world,” Marks said.

Faculty recognized at the event who have been teaching at CU Denver for 25 years are not only tenured faculty, but also senior instructors and lecturers. For their long-standing service, they received a commemorative medal to wear at Commencement ceremonies.
