What better way to end a successful Commencement weekend than by participating in one of the country’s largest marathons alongside more than 30,000 people from around the world? Chancellor Michelle Marks and other campus leaders, as well as students, faculty, and staff, awoke with the sunrise on Sunday, May 15, to run in and support the 16th annual Colfax Marathon. This year, for the very first time, CU Denver was proud to sponsor the nationally recognized event.
In addition to hosting a cheering tent by the CU Denver Building along the Cherry Creek trail and a post-race refreshment tent at City Park, both to showcase its role as an anchor institution and support participants, CU Denver was featured at a Health & Fitness Expo at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium over a two-day period on May 13 and 14 to highlight its commitment to life-long learning, continuing education, and initiatives surrounding equity.
Participants representing CU Denver included Marks, Executive Vice Chancellor of Administration and Strategy Jennifer Sobanet, Vice Chancellor/CFO Todd Haggerty, Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Antonio Farias, Director of Finance and Administration for the Provost’s Office Lisa Atencio, Manager of Chancellor’s Office Operations Katherine Stewart, Administrative Specialist for the Chancellor’s Office Jackson Reed, Senior Creative Director for University Communications Ian Scott, PR/Marketing Specialist for University Communications Kelly Gomez, and more.
