Shannon Hagerman, PhD, will be the next executive director of professional development and continuing education in CU Denver’s School of Education & Human Development (SEHD).

SEHD’s Continuing & Professional Education Office provides a wide array of courses, workshops, certificates, professional development trainings and degree bearing programs to more than 3000 students each year. Courses are located in convenient off-campus locations that are accessible to working education and mental health professionals. The office regularly partners with local and regional school districts, conference organizers and community organizations to offer unique curriculum that is customized to their needs.

Hagerman is a highly accomplished K-12 educator with deep roots in the Denver Public Schools (DPS). She has been a teacher, a principal, an instructional superintendent and most recently executive director of talent preparation for DPS. In her role in talent preparation, Dr. Hagerman developed nationally recognized district–embedded teacher and principal pipeline programs, for example the Denver Teacher Residency with the University of Denver and the NxtGEN project with CU Denver’s School of Education & Human Development. These programs involved the Wallace Foundation, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Federal Department of Education, the Janus Education Alliance and the Rose Community Foundation.

Hagerman is also an experienced university instructor, having taught in the Ritchie Program for School Leaders at the University of Denver.

Her program development experience includes the Denver Teacher Residency, the Student Teacher Residency, the Learn to Lead Residency for Aspiring Principals and the DPS Student Teacher Residency.  Her strategic alliances with university partners in the Denver Metro area has led to $9 million dollars in external funding to support these partnerships.
