Transgender Day of Remembrance is Nov. 18

Lecture on transgender issues in the curriculum, Nov. 18

November 15, 2010

Date: Thursday, Nov. 18 (Auraria Transgender Day of Remembrance), 10-11:15 a.m.
Location: Tivoli 450/550 (“The Adirondacks”)

Description: Matt Kailey, local writer, teacher, and transgender activist, discusses how we can address transgender issues in our curricula and classrooms. Given the recent tragic suicides across the country, we hope this faculty development workshop will become part of a larger discussion on making Auraria campus a welcoming place for all genders and sexualities.

Other campus activities in recognition of the Transgender Day of Remembrance will take place during the afternoon and evening following the workshop. The workshop is sponsored by Metro State College and University of Colorado Denver Centers for Faculty Development, the CU Denver Office of the Vice Chancellor of Diversity and Inclusion, Metro State College Institute for Women’s Studies and Services, Auraria Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Student Services, and the CU Denver Women and Gender Studies Minor. Refreshments will be served.
