World Quantum Day at CU Denver

April 18, 2025

CU Denver Lynx celebrated World Quantum Day on April 14 with activities in the North Classroom Atrium. Students had the opportunity to ask experts questions about quantum computing and watch quantum experiments in action. The event was hosted by CU Denver’s Quantum Information Technology Certificate Program, which is a collaboration between the physics and electrical engineering departments.

Students also tuned into a virtual panel that featured CU Denver and other quantum experts discussing real-world applications of quantum, advice for entering the field (regardless of background), and a live Q&A.

Quantum computing is a multidisciplinary field focused on quickly solving complex problems using the principles of quantum mechanics. It leverages aspects of computer science, physics, and mathematics. Colorado was designated as a Regional Technology and Innovation Hub in 2023, and CU Denver is located at the center of it all. The university is also a consortium member of Elevate Quantum, a Rocky Mountain West Tech Hub.
